Artists Statement I chose the name COLORFEST for my business in the hopes that others would come to celebrate the world of color with me. Color is joy, enthusiasm, sadness, even wild abandonment in some cases. It is in our nature to associate it with emotions, past experiences, and how we view the world around us. Our "color vocabulary" enriches our expressions, ("the wild blue yonder, our 'red hot lover' the black abyss, etc.) come to mind.
So with enthusiasm, I have spent twenty years exploring color, and attempting to express some of those human emotions through fabrics, paints, silk flowers, ribbons, buttons, beads, raffia, etc. I find that my enthusiasm is not limited to one style, but is a happy mix of traditional quilt patterns and fabrics, ethnic designs (many using imported fabrics from Africa and Southeast Asia), and contemporary designs which sometimes become an unexpected blend of the old with the new.
My journey continues to be one of exploration into new techniques, new materials and new uses for quilts in our lives, our homes, and our business environments. As the saying goes, "quilts are not just for beds anymore"!
Quilt Services/Commissions Let me create a work of art that is uniquely yours such as an heirloom quilt for a gift to celebrate a special occasion, or to remember a loved one; a special quilt for your own home or place of business, or a quilt for your organization to use as a fundraiser.
Fine handquilting is my specialty.
