About 8 years ago, I started helping my friend Janice with her business, The Quilted Mitten. She made various baby items..such as bibs and accessories. I started out sewing for her and then progressed to doing some shows with her. I loved it! Three years ago Jan died of cancer. It was such a shock to all of us and I miss her very much. I bought her business from her family and started out on my own. This is my 3rd year without her - but I know she would be proud of me and I try very hard to continue with the high standards that she maintained.
I make various bibs: regular bibs, burp bibs, lap bibs and toddler bibs. We even make an adult bib - referred to as a "Shirt protector". I also make receiving blankets, quilts, knitted hats, sweaters, afghans and baby wash cloths. I put together gift sets for those looking for that something special for a new baby. I also make some premie items.
I love what I do. I thank Jan every day for pulling me into this business and starting me down this wonderful road as a Maine Crafter. I am very proud as a Maine Crafter to produce a well-made product at a fair price and to help our own economy.
