Hardee Crafts of Maine offers a variety of original, handcrafted wooden puzzles and brainteasers with an educational twist. Many are original and unique designs by Harley, a former science teacher. We have combined many years of woodworking experience and our enjoyment of puzzles and brainteasers into a labor of love.
Each piece is designed by handcrafting new and resalvaged materials from our shop in Maine. No two pieces will be exactly alike, giving each piece its own identity like the buyer’s of our products. Although some designs seem more popular than others we do not mass produce our product line so that we may give the artist free will at creativity. We hope the creativity in each piece will bring you and others the pleasure that it brings us. Enjoy!
My goal is to design and make products that are functional, durable, and useful. My products reflect a Maine culture particularly that of the seacoast.
He also will do some select custom work.
Nancy offers a line of high quality bags with matching wallet and face masks using a wide variety of Batiks and cotton prints.
We are both Maine natives. David grew up in Portland and Nancy in Falmouth. We have been happily married since 1975. In 2003 we retired from our successful Financial Services Practice in the Greater Portland area. After retiring we traveled the US for 5 1/2 years in our motorhome. We came back to Maine every summer and eventually built a small home in Clinton, Maine. We still love to travel and camp in our RV and incorporate camping with our craft shows whenever possible. Both of us have always been very crafty and we decided to do what we love, David making sawdust in his shop and Nancy at her sewing machine.
David has always loved woodworking and now spends all his time in his shop. He loves to use his imagination to make high quality products using a wide variety of unique woods. He has developed a full line of cutting boards in a variety of sizes and wooden bowls as well as lazy susans. He is also a luthier and makes acoustic, electric and bass guitars and ukuleles.
Nancy spends her days in her studio making unique bags with matching wallets. She uses a variety of cotton prints as well as batiks. She also handles the business end of things and keeps our calendar straight.
Needless to say, we both love this lifestyle. We strive to offer high quality products at a reasonable price. We really enjoy doing craft shows and we love meeting the nice people who attend the shows and purchase our products. We sell our products throughout the year at Craft Shows, directly to existing and new customers, and on our Etsy shop.
